
Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must be a high school graduate or its equivalent
- Good driving record and valid driver's license at the time of appointment
- Good credit record
- No criminal record
- Must maintain certification under the minimum training standards for jails as required by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services or obtain certification within one year of hire.
- Must be able to respond to the jail within one hour from place or primary residence.
